Donnacha Costello – “Before We Say Goodbye”

Donnacha Costello - “Before We Say Goodbye”

There are few artists these days who consistently succeed to focus their passions, talents and instincts into deliciously individual, melancholic, beautiful and timeless recordings. Irish born Donnacha Costello is amongst the highest ranks of such artists. Poker Flat is proud to announce Donnacha Costello s new full length album; Before We Say Goodbye . Echoes of Chicago House, Detroit Techno, and UK Ambient Techno fl ow through its futuristic core, as we fi nd Donnacha exploring further his love for deep, hypnotising grooves, rich synth themes and emotive harmonies. This vinyl version features four cuts taken from the long-player. Firstly the singing strings and a stand-out bassline of Leaving Berlin hit the needle, and drive this memorable piece through to its fi nale. Almost a microcosm of the album itself, there s drama, tension and resolution to be found. No-one Is Watching ensnares us with tense, deep swung Detroitian synth work and intricate micro phrases. This free-form Techno cut opens up into a jazz chorded, blossoming ride, true of many other pieces on the album. Perhaps the heaviest track on the 12 , the strong, rolling drums of Roll It Out lead the listener head fi rst into another jacking, Modern Acid adventure. Skipping and jumping in excited bursts of light and colour, you ll be transported to other worlds and back Finally the other-worldly complexities of Stretching Time have their time to play with the senses. Rousing bass lines, static dubbed electricity, sublime chords and acidic refrains all melt together in this fi nal beat driven synth exploration into the unknown. Tracklisting: A1: Leaving Berlin A2: No-one Is Watching B1: Roll It Out B2: Stretching Time

Patrick Chardronnet Vs David Durango – “Days Like These / Move With Me”

Patrick Chardronnet Vs David Durango - “Days Like These / Move With Me”

Picture the perfect summer time session, perhaps spontaneously thrown together around a beach bar in that most sonorous of spanish cities, or perhaps floating along with the concluding and exulting hours of one of Berlin s finest vistas. This is the record that will result in those hairs standing on end and refusing to come back down A majestic team are at work here, known by their earth names as Chardronnet and Durango, but known in celestial circles as the lords of Movement and Melody. Like the best of his best, Chardronnet s Days Like These promises to groove from start to unwanted finish, with power and soul. Its language of softly spoken synth stabs and elegant, up-building syntaxes are beautifully expressed and can be understood by all. Its a respectfully understated tune that rises with recognisable structure, but continues to surprise and excite as Patrick s natural talent for arrangements becomes clear. As a great complement to the somewhat gentler tones of the A side, David Durango s Move with Me taps into the more cerebral zones of this grand slam summer session. David Durango is a fresh and talented producer from Switzerland and recently delivered a stunning remix for Berkson & What s Keep On Dessous 82 digital bonus track . On Move With Me , nervous, intricate percussion builds with tweaked out delays and charged reverb washes, introducing the track s melodic central theme and carrying it through to its dramatic final break. Its welcomed somewhere deep inside our subconscious and has the effort of swathing us in a warm blanket of familiarity, yet its borders remain uncharted and therefore the track exists as a wonderfully mysterious journey that s begging to be explored and of course re-visited Tracklisting: A: Patrick Chardronnet: Days Like These B: David Durango: Move With Me

nitestylez.de: “ It s been quite a while since Poker Flat Recoordings released a part of their Tournament-series which was originally established to showcase young talented producers from different countries in this world. This idea might have been subject of change recently and now this comes up as the labels first split-release in ages. Patrick Chardronnets Days Like These is a very uplifting, classic House music tune deep rooted equally in Chicagos history as in contemporary Minimalism and is about to make punters feel good on the floor. On the flip we ve David Durangos Move With Me stuck to the same roots but referring to them in a deeper, moodier way that due to its melancholic string arrangement added throughout tracks end part that calls back the original spirit of what Trance once has been is more fitting to be played out at the end of a nice clubnight.”

Will Saul Simple Records : “ Two tracks that will effortlessly fit into my peaktime sets. Difficult to pick a winner here but the way the vocal is used in MWM is lovely so this just edges it for me…”

Gamal Kabar – “The Filfth, 3 Channels Rmx”

Gamal Kabar - “The Filfth, 3 Channels Rmx”

London based DJ and producer Gamal Kabar is already know for his releases on Dessous as St. Sebastian and his remix for Jeff Samuel s Fire on Poker Flat. Crisp drums, repetitive synths and a dark atmosphere characterise his signature sound. Now Gamal makes his debut on Poker Flat White with The Filth , a pumping and hypnotic Techno-tune. The track builds over a tigh kick drum, hihiats and a super dry snare to pave way for freaky coltish and hypnotising synth stabs. Critical Times We Are Fucked on B2 is a brilliant reduced floorshaker. Gamal s freaky synths are well directed here and underline the urgency of the vocal shreds. The remix for The Filth has been crafted by Polish heroes 3Channels. The duo is already known for their releases on Trenton, Trapez, Crosstown Rebels, Dirtybird and others. They are also the guys behind the new project Catz N Dogz and will release their debut album on Dirtybird in autumn. They keep the driving tightness of the original while adding new beats to the track. They rearranged Gamal s freaked out synthies and build them more subtle to let them erupt in raw and uncontrolled peaks. A brilliant remix for peak time dancefloors
